Who can join?

Women who are registered members at and have established eighteen (18) hole handicap indexes of 30.4 or less at any of the golf clubs participating in Worcester County Women's Golf Association tournaments shall be eligible for membership. WCWGA strongly encourages all our members to actively participate in their clubs ladies leagues.

Rejoining members with a continuous membership and a handicap index of 34.4 or less must play to the 30.4 maximum handicap. Rejoining members with a continuous membership whose handicap index is between 34.5 and 36.4 may play in the Senior and Final Day Tournaments only.

A new member may join at any time during the year.  If your handicap index is too high in the spring, but drops to 30.4 or lower later in the season, you will be eligible for membership providing all other requirements are satisfied.

Rejoining members must join by June 1st and register with their club representative prior to that date. All rejoining members will begin the season with the final handicap index established upon the handicap closing date as dictated by the GHIN system.

Handicap Classes

Members will begin the season within a class (division) determined by using the last handicap index revision as reported by the USGA GHIN system from the previous season.

ClassHandicap Index
Championship Flight  0 - 15.4
Class A15.5 - 21.4
Class B21.5 - 26.4
Class C26.5 - 30.4

A member will play within this division for the remainder of the season unless her handicap lowers and said member becomes eligible for a lower class.

Example: A member's beginning handicap in May is 21.7 (Class B) and during the season her handicap lowers to 21.4 (Class A), she must then move to A division for the remainder of the season, unless her handicap drops even lower and she becomes eligible for the Championship division. If however the member's handicap rises to 26.5 (Class C) she is not eligible to move to that division. She must remain in Class B and play to the maximum handicap in B division which is 26.4.
