Tributes

We all knew Wendy through golfing in WCWGA Dunroamin and Quail Hollow. Let me tell you a little more about her life before golf. Wendy married her high school sweetheart and they had 3 daughters. 3 grandchildren whom she adored, and a second granddaughter to arrive this August. She loved the outdoors and when she was diagnosed 2 1/2 years ago with Pancreatic cancer she put her clubs down, and put her focus and energy into her fight for survival. Wendy’s husband Bill devoted 100% of his time with Wendy and kept her busy fishing and boating enjoying flowers and bird that gathered at her home. She had 2 grandsons when she was diagnosed and the arrival of her 1st granddaughter last August gave her something to focus on. She even grew strong enough to hit the links a few times, and I was lucky enough to to golf w her last fall.

Now let’s talk about golf. Wendy transferred to Quail Hollow from Dunroamin where she won 3 club championships. We became fast friends and rivals at Quail Hollow and I am proud to say she beat me in a club championship in a playoff ( I did get net LOL). She had much success in Worcester County Women’s Golf Association and was a great competitor. I find it interesting that we meet so many friends through this group. It’s important to talk to each other, and if you look around you can see of the strong bonds already built and new ones beginning today. It’s not just about the golf balls it’s about the meeting life long friends. Wendy and I became very close very quickly. I even asked her to be my maid of honor. When I golf and there is a rain or a thunderstorm, and (I) do a birdie shot, I will think of Wendy. She will be missed.
